When coiling cables, it is necessary to maintain a tight and even arrangement, moderate tension, and avoid damaging the cables through standardized operations.
1. Preparation work
Select cable reels that match the cable specifications, ensuring that their shaft diameter and width can accommodate the cable length and meet the load-bearing capacity standards. Before operation, it is necessary to clean the foreign objects on the panel and check whether there are cracks or wear on the cable sheath. If there is any damage, it needs to be repaired before coiling.
2. Fixed starting end
Thread the cable head through the reserved hole or slot in the core, lock it with nylon zip ties or U-shaped metal clips, and wrap it 2-3 times if necessary to increase friction. After fixing, manually pull and confirm that there is no sliding before entering the winding stage.
3. Layered winding method
When two people cooperate, one person rotates at a constant speed while the other guides the cable with one hand. It is recommended to spiral forward from the inside to the outside of the reel, with each layer arranged in parallel and adjacent cable coils spaced ≤ 2cm apart. If it is a multi-layer reel, each layer should cover the gap in the lower layer to prevent compression deformation.
4. Tension control techniques
When holding the cable, the natural downward curve should be maintained, and the speed of the turntable should be synchronized with the speed of cable laying. It can be judged by touch: when the disk is too loose, it is prone to collapse, and when it is too tight, it will cause the insulation layer to stretch and deform. A slight contact resistance is better.
5. End treatment and protection
After completing the winding, wrap the tail end with waterproof tape 3-5 times, and then use the built-in lock or elastic strapping of the reel to fix it. If the storage environment is humid, it is recommended to wrap the cable reel as a whole with moisture-proof film.
Special cables (such as high-voltage armored cables) are recommended to use the S-shaped winding method to avoid bending radii that are too small. Wear cut resistant gloves during operation to ensure that the rotation direction is consistent with the twisting direction of the outer layer of the cable.
